Maikell Shawl

leave a comment »

So I started the shawl early August and try to set aside about an hour or so a day and have been doing really well with it I think.  My first attempts weren’t very good with Nupps so on this particular project I am substituting with 6/6 black seed beads and I am loving what is going on with them! I took pictures and will certainly be posting them at the bottom of this entry.

Who am I making it for?  Well, I intended on gifting it to my sister-in-law for either her birthday or Christmas (depending of course on when I finish it), but I may end up keeping it for myself LOL.

I am using Castle Fibers SCAB lace-weight which is 50%silk and 50% Merino Wool:

What do you do when you have three skeins of beautifully white yarn that were set on the bed in a rarely used (and therefore closed) room and your husband leaves the door open for God only knows what reason since he KNOWS there is a puppy in this house that hasn’t yet determined exactly what is a toy and what isn’t ?

Yep folks, I am giving up the working yarn because my stash yarn (which isn’t so white anymore– thank you doggy pup) that I was getting ready to ball now requires full attention and a whole lot of patience.

I finished my doily and its gorgeous. Its in a pineapple pattern. The camera is still MIA but since this particular project was for me then I am not overly concerned of sending it out to a new home with no photo taken.

I haven’t started any new projects lately but I am thinking about crocheting up some curtains for the half wall that separates the kitchen from the living room. I can’t seem to find a pattern so I am thinking I may be working on my first design. If it works I’ll make a matching set for the kitchen.

Off I go. I should probably warn folks- that I am not a very patient person so there may be some ranting later on today.

Ok guys and gals!
I’m going to be adding links (slowly but surely)  in the sidebars to places that I think are interesting and would benefit any fiber fan who happens to stumble on my humble abode!
Today I am adding Castle Fibers.  She is extremely creative with just the right dash of sass (that is quickly becoming my favorite compliment).

Take a look, bookmark, and give your business.  She is a wonderful and talented person whose love for fiber is evident!

Lace….

with one comment

I am attempting my first lace project, and because I get bored easily I have a pretty complicated Estonian pattern…

  1. I LOVE knitpicks Alpaca Cloud!  It works so easily and has a pretty halo
  2. I HATE nupps!

If I can get to a point where a photo is possible then I’ll get it up.  Until then, though, its frog frog frog!
