Take a Look Sock Knitters/Crocheters!

leave a comment »

I don’t know if many of you know but we (my husband and myself) are infertile.  I am beginning treatments and hopefully that will allow us to become parents.

There is a new element in my side bar and I’d love for you guys to consider donating to.  The site provides fun socks to infertile women who spend an un-godly amount of time with their legs in the stirrups.

Please.

Infertility awareness week is coming up (beginning April 25th) and this would be a great way to be involved, especially to you all who love to knit/crochet socks!

Thanks 🙂

For Posterity

Well, seems as though I am not getting back on Ravelry.  I never once flagged a post so that can’t cause a disruption.  I rarely left my few groups to troll groups I had no business in because I didn’t feel the need to correct or voice an opinion when I wasn’t even a member.  Sure, I followed links but not only from Bunkerboard.  I doubt that caused any kind of disturbance.  I find it interesting that Casey is making available now some of the features we’d been asking for during the election. Blah blah blah, yes he appears to be busy but I personally think that his project priorities are out of order.  The ability to ignore a member should have been apart of one of the first things coded.

Anyway- To show that I did nothing wrong (except apparently to demand this so called evidence- which shouldn’t be a problem if he had any evidence begin with) I will be posting the back and forth between Casey and myself prior to the great ban.  I also will include post ban correspondence with Craig-sey.  I hope that it will open the eyes of some people but even if it doesn’t – well that is just too bad.

This post will be long and not only will I post emails, I will post my final thoughts about Ravelry and then that will be the last I say on the subject.

26 Febuary- I emailed Casey for the first time ever.  I had an issue where I thought that he was being unprofessional in the handling of a situation.  The back and forth was courteous on both ends.

I was going to cut and paste but that required too much reformatting- so I decided to screen cap it.  There are over 20 emails to get through just about the banning and about 6-9 just correspondence with Casey.  I left the date and time so that you can all see the progression and what I have highlighted are some interesting statements that I feel should be looked at more closely- especially when Casey not only encourages flagging posts but that he knew it wasn’t the Bunker that was causing the problems but were on the receiving end of straight out harassment.

Ravelry claims that all is open on the site and nothing is to be behind closed doors.  So because I was denied the ability to know what it is I did wrong I feel as though I must put forth all correspondence (which isn’t  a lot for being a contributing member for a year and a half) so that others can see that I did nothing to warrant the actions taken- transparency is my aim. So here we go:

Thats the end of the correspondence.  Now, I am ok with not being on Ravelry.  It is probably a good thing since now I can focus on my craft as well as other things that will reward my input far more than the kind of website  Ravelry is under the surface.  I wasn’t angry- I just wanted to know what it was that I supposedly did. The question was ignored, glossed over and overlooked.  I didn’t appreciate that a so called lawyer would send snippy replies and never provided his quaifications.  I have NEVER known a lawyer (or any other profession that requires so much schooling) to be shy about sharing qualifications, much less out right refuse to give them.  To each his own- in this case Casey and Co with Ravelry.

If you made it this far I commend you!  I know it was long and you should totally go get yourself a treat as a reward!

Going Back to My Love

leave a comment »

I’ve set aside the needles for a day and picked up my hook.

I am making myself a doily for underneath our fruit bowl on our Island in the kitchen. I am so glad that this works up quickly. The satisfaction is why I love Crochet. I don’t even have to think about it.

Im sure that years down the road I’ll be able to do that with Knitting- but now certainly isn’t the time. Slow going but I know it’ll bring that sense of accomplishment when I am finished with the project.

My camera is totally missing at this point- I need to take progression pictures of my lace and sock projects as well as my doily before I finish the thing.

As soon as I find it this blog will have lots o pictures.

Cast On

leave a comment »

I did it!! I cast on this evening to make my first ever socks! I am using Castle Fibers “Sense and Sensibility” sock yarn (which is gorgeous and has been a gem to work with). I am sure most of you have noticed my protected post previous to this one: that is the pattern but since it has to be purchased I assigned a password. If you would like to see the pattern or purchase just let me know and I’ll link the site from here.

I am taking some major steps in my knitting as of late. I am working on my first lace project (the Crown Prince shawl from Nancy Bush’s Estonian Knitting book), I have started my first sock (and can totally see the appeal— they work up pretty quickly), and I am quite a ways into my nieces Christening gown!

I seriously NEED this many projects in rotation because if not I get bored :/

I decided that I would try and blog about my crochet and knitting issues.  I gotta put the frustration and the elation somewhere, right?
